This position is located in Bioprocess Research, a department within the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the development of innovative production processes for therapeutic proteins is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.

What we do:

The Bioprocess Research department is part of the Large Molecule Research, Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) division. It is globally responsible for developing cell culture processes as well as purification methods for the production of therapeutic antibodies and other biological modalities.

In this environment we are looking for you to join our IT team.


Your new responsibilities:

  • Exchange with scientists in lab operations to jointly design data-based solutions for process optimization and data analysis

  • Work closely with global IT units to coordinate further development of digital solutions for lab operations

  • Build, maintain and support the fermentation and purification data model

  • Establish an end2end solution to simplify the laboratory process

  • Transform proof of concept into practical digital solution

  • Evaluate and refine the solution from a technical and business perspective

  • Help shape the data landscape in one of the world's leading research operation


Your profile:

  • Completed studies (Bachelor) in quantitative sciences, data engineering or computer science (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology etc.)

  • Experience in data analysis and basic understanding of databases and data models (e.g. SQL, APEX...).

  • Familiar with using Git in teamwork to deliver consistent and productive work (e.g. Gitlab, Github).

  • Quantitative view and passion for working with data

  • Structured approach to work, including creating technical documentation.

  • Programming skills in Python, R, SQL, and JavaScript are desirable.

  • Knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Google) is a plus

  • Experience in biological/medical field is desirable

  • Understanding of biological and pharmaceutical processes, or willingness to learn about them

  • A very good grasp of complex issues, structured thinking and openness to new ideas and solutions.

  • Binding agreements and very good communication are essential

  • Pleasure in working in a team

  • The ability and willingness to work on difficult issues independently and on one's own responsibility.

  • Perseverance in solving demanding challenges.

  • In addition, you have very good English skills and experience in national and international teams.
